Upcycling Competition March 2017

Upcycling is the process of converting old or discarded materials into something useful and often beautiful. It is great for the environment because it prevents something from being thrown away by giving it a new purpose.

On Wednesday 8th March, the Eco Team will judge entries to a competition to make something useful or decorative from something else that is no longer needed. They will be looking for creative, interesting or original work, done by children.

There will be prizes for Early Years, KS1, lower KS2 and upper KS2. Entries must be brought into school by 9:00am Wednesday 8th March, labelled with name and class.

Switch Off Fortnight

From 21st November, we will be starting the Eco School’s Switch Off Fortnight.

The Eco team will be coming around school to check which classes are Eco Warriors and which are Energy Monsters. Help your teacher remember to switch off smart boards, computers, iPads, lights and other electrical devices. Nobody wants to find a black footprint from Carbon the Dog do they?

Let’s see which class gets Carbon’s certificate.

Post a comment here to tell everyone what you are doing at school and home to save energy…..remember it’s not just electricity you save, it’s money too!!!

Willow Arch

We have planted some willow in the hope that it will take root and grow. If successful, it can be trained and tied so that it forms an arch or even a tunnel!
